Reflection
There are several reasons why this lesson proved successful. I had planned on doing the book talking portion along with PowerPoint slides, however the morning of the lesson I decided that the material, as well as myself, would come across way more interesting and engaging if I spread the books out on the tables where the students were sitting and moved around the space as I spoke about the books. My plan worked, and they all followed my every move. I varied how I talked about each book as well. Some books I read passages from, while others I asked for audience participation. Everyone was involved and engaged. Another sign this worked well is that at the end of my presentation I revealed where we keep the Bluestem nominees in the library, and they took off running, like they didn't want to miss out on checking out any of the books I had just talked about!
